Plot
The story follows Kylie Bucknell played by Morgana O Reilly, a relatively young and naïve woman who tries to rob an ATM but fails miserably. After getting arrested, she is sentenced to house arrest for eight months. She is put in her old childhood home with her troubled mother, Miriam Bucknell played by Rima Te Wiata. The mother is convinced that the house is haunted by some spirits and tries to prove it to Kylie. After getting her theory rejected, Miriam accounts for all the strange occurrences that have been happening in the house over the years. Skeptical and reasonable, Kylie dismisses everything but eventually starts noticing the eerie atmosphere and strange events throughout the house. Restrained from going out, Kylie gets curious about the hauntings and she starts exploring the past about the home and her family.
Star Performance
Morgana O Reilly plays the lead role of the protagonist and efficiently carries out the role of Kylie, she is naïve, skeptical, and curious at the same time. She masters the character and plot, conveying her character. The sense of horror and humor was perfectly balanced in her acting. Rima Te Wiata plays the mother with faith in the supernatural and believes the house is haunted. She plays her role pretty humorously and silly but adores her daughter that adds an aspect of parental love. Glen-Paul and Cameron Rhodes also do a great job at grasping their characters and interactions with the leading cast. Supporting characters fits in the themes and uplift the leading cast's performances.
Analysis
The film Directions and writing is engaging to watch, the mix of horror with the humor (preferably dark humor) makes it pretty unique and stand out in its genre. The cinematography adds atmospheric tension and makes the scenes more intense, the essence of horror and comedy. Music was another plus point of the film, raising the heartbeats of the viewers in terrifying scenes and laughable tracks at the jokes and punchlines.

It is an entraining and humorously cynical movie baked in horror. Good performances by the actors make the dialogues and writing even better and laughable while staying intact in the terrifying and eerie atmosphere. It is a highly critically rated movie and a must watch for fans of horror comedy.
