Plot

The film’s protagonist is Juliette, played by Brittany Ashworth, a survivor of a deadly apocalypse that wiped out nearly all of the Earth’s population. She lives with other survivors in a camp. One day, on her way back from a supply run for necessities, a picture on the windshield of her with a man was about to fly away. When Juliette notices this, she tries to catch the picture but loses control of the car and crashes. When she woke up, the car was upside down after the accident and her leg was broken. It was nearly nightfall and the people from her camp would only search for her the next morning. She needed to survive the night with a broken leg. She senses that an eerie creature was after her. The film follows Juliette as she tries to fend off the creature that is after her.

Star Performance

Brittany Ashworth gives a spectacular performance as Juliette. She perfectly portrays Juliette’s determination and vulnerabilities, and is stellar in Juliet’s flashbacks of her memories from before the apocalypse destroyed the world.

Analysis

The film has a great, innovative concept that the director successfully executed. The film perfectly describes how people who have lost everything draw strength from their joyful past.

What’s There?

• The film is a post apocalypse thriller about a woman trying to survive attacks from a strange creature.

• The film features stellar acting from Brittany Ashworth

What’s Not There?

• The film has a lot of flashback scenes full of Juliette’s romantic memories, which feels out of place in a horror thriller

Verdict

“Hostile” is a great film about Juliette’s fight for survival. It describes how she draws her strength from her past. The film would be a good watch for thriller and horror enthusiasts.
