Plot
A couple Ben and Hazel struggle to cope with the loss of their only daughter, Molly. Hoping for a new change they renovate their hotel. One fine day Ben sees the words ‘Seas the day ‘ on the walls. He remembers a vivid dream of building sandcastles with red flags on a nearby beach. What do the words mean? Is the dream a message from the afterlife? Or is Ben suffering from a mental condition?Â
Star Performance
Both Stephen and Melissa shined in their roles. The grief-stricken parents with their own side stories and secrets, their characters were unique and the cast did justice to their roles. For the whole movie to be in a grief genre they definitely did a good job.
Analysis
The movie takes place in Ireland and the Irish setting is utilised well. The landscape such as the calm sky and beaches symbolize calmness and at the same time unpredictability.Â
What’s There?
• The main characters in the film are only two but their excellent performance was enough for the movie to be a hit.
• The setting, atmosphere, and visuals set a perfect atmosphere for the film.
What’s Not There?
• The narrative is boring and could be done better.
• Unnecessary side plots.
Verdict
The movie might not be likeable for everyone but if you like a good psychological slow-burn movie then this is for you.
