Karunarathna Divulgane is a popular and renowned Sri Lankan vocalist. He was born and bought up in Divulgane, a small village in the Kurunegala district. His family has been living in the same village for generations. Divulgane was introduced to music by the late Visharada Gunadasa Kapuge in the early 90s. In 1980, Karunarathna was hired by Rajarata Seveya radio station. He passed an examination at the radio station in 1982 and was selected as a singer in the Rajarata Seveya. It was during this tie that he took the name Divulgane.
In 1990, Karunarathna released his first album, Esata Asuwana Maime, which was a success, and soon he became one of the sought-after artists in the country. Divulgane, around 1994, released his second album, Nethata Ulelak (A Festival for the Eyes). His third album, Nil Diyawara (Blue Waters), was released in 1998, followed by Sanhinda Pamula in 2001. Since then, he was released two more albums, Tharu Eliya Dige and May Sihina Hari Pudumai. Devulgane served as the 7th Governor of the North Central Province of Sri Lanka between 13, 2007 and January 27, 2015.
