Uresha Ravihari Wickremasinghe is a Sri Lankan singer. She was born on June 26, 1982, in Nugegoda. She completed her schooling at Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya, Nugegoda, and then moved to St. Paul’s Girls School, Milagiriya. She has been good at singing and dancing from a very young age. Ravihari is considered one of the leading female playback singers in Sri Lankan Sinhala cinema, having sung in 117 Sinhala films. She started to learn music and did vocal training at a very young age. She made her maiden playback singing debut at the age of 8 with the film Shakthiya Obai Amme, alongside her teachers Dr. Sujatha Attanayake and Tony Hassan.
At the age of 9, Ravihari released her first album, titled Surathal Nangiye. She continued to perform on many occasions with both Sinhala and Hindi songs and released a Hindi-Sinhala mix CD/cassette at the age of 13 as her second album. Ravihari got the opportunity to sing Hindi songs in a musical program telecast on ITN every Tuesday. Her third album, Kasun Tharaka, was released when she was 16 years old. At the age of 13, Ravihari made her acting debut in the film Malsara Doni, produced by her father. In the film, her song Unna Eka Gangavaka became highly popular. However, she selected the music industry as her pathway.
Ravihari completed ‘Prathama’ and the Diploma in Hindustani Music under Sujatha Attanayaka and the late Austin Munasinghe. She also completed Bharatha Natyam unde Preethi Ganegoda and Vasuki Shanmugampilla. . Apart from music and dancing, Ravihari completed a diploma in beauty culture under Suwineetha Kotalawala.
Some of the popular songs sung by Uresha are Jala Dharawe, Samanal Hanguman, Sithuwila Pura, Suso Sudu Dethole Maduu, Anna Sudo (re-make), Andana Ahasata Weda, Me Sihinaya, Sihina Nidiyana, Pata Thiyala, Piyanani, and many more. In 1996, Ravihari won the award for the best-selling CD/cassette at the Rasa Awards Festival for her album Sithin Man Aaderai. Then, in 1998, she won the award for the best singer at the Sumathi Awards for the song in the television serial Sasala Ruwa. In 2005, she won the best singer award at Raigam Tele’es for the song in the serial Idorayaka Mal Pipila.
In 2006, she won the Best Singer Award at both the Signis OCIC Award Festival and the Presidential Film Festival for the film Anjalika. Ravihari won the Sarasaviya Awards for Best Vocalist in three consecutive years: in 2006 for the film Anjalika, in 2007 for Asai Man Piyabanna, and in 2008 for Rosa Kale. She has also won best vocalist at the Derana Film Festival 20 for the film Wariga Pojja and at the Hiru Golden Film Festival 2018 for Sarigama. Ravihari was a coach for the TV program The Voice Kids in 2023-24.
