Sunil Ratnayake

Sunil Ratnayake is a well-known person and veteran in the multimedia entertainment sector from Sri Lanka, influenced by a Betamax player with a vision of success. Initially, he worked in the television production industry in the early 1980s. He is currently the managing director and chair of "Teleview Pvt. Ltd." When Ratnayake was a young boy, he achieved his primary education at Rahula College, Matara, and higher studies at Maliyadeva Vidyalaya, Kurunegala. He completed his degree in Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) from the University of Wales.

Ratnayake love for video cameras started back in the 1980s when he left for Saudi Arabia, where he had to cover and record the vast landscape, desert, and construction work with the help of a video camera. Ratnayake took new cameras and equipment with him from Saudi Arabia, and soon after, he started working as a news correspondent for the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).

In 1984, Sunil Ratnayake launched his first-ever teledrama Randaruwo along with other productions like Ridi Rekhawa, Pahanweta, and Samantenna and the viral and most liked production to date Bhagya. His other significant contribution is the use of 3D animation and CGI (Computer Generated Imagery). Additionally, to function as the first production house to showcase animated scenes, Teleview initially opened its doors in 1986. Teledramas like Akala Sandhya, Sihina Isawwa, etc.., were made using this technology.
