Ilango Ramanathan is a screenwriter in the Tamil Sri Lankan industry. He is known for his scriptwriting style and precise direction. Ilango was born in Sri Lanka and pursued studies in India. He is an engineer and graduated with a degree in Electronics and Communications from NIT in 2002. He is also a registered pilot from the Asian Aviation School. He specialized in cinematography from Rockport College in the USA in 2006. He started making short films that pivoted his career. In 2006 he represented Sri Lanka at AFA and was screened at the prestigious Pusan Film Festival.
His participation in the prestigious Berlinale Talent Campus in 2007 added another feather to his cap. Ilango ventured into commercial directing in 2009 and was awarded the Gold Award for Best Cinematography in the TV category, with a Silver and Bronze for Best Direction. He became a well-known personality in the Sri Lankan TV industry. Ilango's first short film, Silent Tears premiered in September 2021. His ability to bring scripts to life and his undying love for filmmaking is a tale of inspiration.
