Eranga Senarathne

Eranga Senarathne is a Sri Lankan director, screenwriter, and producer born on May 26. A veteran filmmaker, Senarathne has been credited with directing and producing more than ten films, starting with Surahayana Gini Gani in 1990. His films are drama and romance, with the occasional comedy dramas. Senarathne directed Sri Lankan films, including Surayahana Gini Gani (1999), Gini Gath Madhusamaya (2000), Rosa Patikki (2002), Sinasuna Adaren (2009), Sweet Angel (2011), None Mage Sudu None (2015), Mona Lisa (2022), and Ae (2022). A special screening on January 26, 2022, at the Colombo City Center announced the release of Mona Lisa (2022), a film written and directed by Eranga Senarathne during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trailers for four of Senarathne’s upcoming movies, Nilu Man Adarei, Pirimi Adarayak (A Gentleman’s Love), Mona Lisa, and Ae, were screened at the event. According to Senarathne, his four films remained unreleased due to the preference for screening foreign movies over domestic cinema projects. Thus, his later films, including Ae (2022), were digitally distributed on streaming platforms, available in 42 countries. Eranga Senarathne is married to Dinali Roshanti Senarathne, a lyricist and screenwriter. She has collaborated with him in films including Ae (2022) and Mona Lisa (2022).
