Navaratne Gamage is a Sri Lankan composer, music conductor, and director born on January 14, 1960, in Colombo. His wife's name is Preethi Jayasekara, and he has two children. He has directed and written in 30 films, more than 140 teledramas, and 40 theatre productions and managed songs for 3000 songs. His works are notable for adding Western music experiments and theatrical flavor with traditional orchestral arrangements. In the 1980s, Navaratne began his professional career as a supporting actor and singer in Reginold Jayamanne Samaya's stage play. His debut was Deepthi Kumara Gunaratne’s Niruwatha stage play.
He has composed music for theatre directors, including Prasannajith Abeysundara, Nimal Ekanayake, Dharmajith Punarjeewa, and Professor Sunanda Mahendra. He composed and directed music for many television productions, including Jingles, commercials, news bulletins, magazine programs, and documentaries. He even released his first solo CD album in 2004 with a music concert, Sanda Eliyen Dothak, held at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. His second album, Dhamma, is a collection of spiritual music published by Warner Chappell Music.
