Sinhala Actor Thusitha Laknath

Thusitha Laknath is a famous Sri Lankan actor and Dramatist working in the television, theatre, and film industry. He was born on 7 September 1983 in Sri Lanka, and his full name is Thusitha Laknath Galindawattha. He completed his early education at Koswatta Jayawardena Vidyalaya and later went to Ananda College, Colombo, to complete graduation. Thusitha joined Tower Hall Theatre Foundation to complete his theatre education after finishing school. The first stage drama by Thusitha was based on an Italian novel titled Fontamarawa in 2000. In 2002, he appeared in another stage theatre titled The Doll's House. Thusitha Laknath worked as a stage manager to organize behind the scenes from 2002 to 2007.

He returned to the stage as an artist in 2007 with an Indika Ferdinandoes' play entitled Swayankreeya Wanshakathawa. Later, he appeared in numerous plays like Man Diyawela, Sindu Pahai, Security, and Romeo and Juliet. Thusitha Laknath won the credits of National Best Actor three times for his excellent performance of his roles in the following plays. He won the title of best actor at National Drama Festival 2007 for Man Diyawela, National Short Drama Festival 2007 for Sindu 5 Calls 5, and National Youth Drama Festival 2007 for Security. Before debuting on the big screen, he directed a short play titled Pissanta Mama Aadarai in 2006.

There are several movies in which Thusitha Laknath played prominent roles, like Prasanna Vithanage's Akasa Kusum in 2008, Daramasena Pathiraja's Sakkaran in 2017, Thisara Imbulana's Nino Live in 2017, and Anurudhha Jayasinghe's Ginnen Upan Seethala in 2019. The latest project by Thisutha is Asoka Hanagama's Alborada in 2021, in which he appeared opposite Luis J Romero, Anne Solenne Hatte, and Rithika Kodithuwakku. The film premiered on 14 February 2022 in Sinhala, English, Spanish, and Tamil. Thusitha won several awards in different categories for the plays he directed and produced and for his tremendous acting.

He won the title of Best Script Writer for Le Naya at National Youth Drama Festival 2007, Pasmaha Belum at National Youth Drama Festival 2011, Amathaka Wenna Kalin at National Youth Drama Festival 2012, Ajaramara at National Youth Drama Festival 2012 and National Short Drama Festival 2014, Ran Menika at National Youth Drama Festival 2014, and Chatrapani at National Youth Drama Festival 2014. For the best production of Le Naya and Amathaka Wenna Kalin, he won National Youth Drama Festival in 2011 and 2012. One of the best plays of Thusitha Laknath is Ajaramara, which won him the title of Best Actor at the National Youth Drama Festival 2012, National Youth Drama Festival 2014, and National Short Drama Festival 2014.
