Priyankara Rathnayak Was born on June 3, he is an actor in Srinlankan Film industry. Priyankara started his drama career under Somalatha Subasinghe Bio coming soon... >> Read More... in the children's theater and state drama school. He then joined Rajitha Dissanayake's drama troupe. Priyankara then got the opportunity to enroll in The University of Kelaniya in the year of 1989 and obtained his Bachelor of Arts Special (Honors) in 1992 from there. He has an M.A in Drama and Theatre from University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Priyankara has worked as a lecturing professor for mass media, drama and also for performing arts in University of Peradeniya, National School of Drama, Tower Hall Theatre Foundation and Sripalee campus of University of Colombo. Rathnayake is famous for adaptation of the plays written by Sophocles and introducing those to the Sri Lankan theater with the titles such as Oedipus and Ada Vage Davasaka Antigone. He also directed Aristophanes play Lysistrata in 2015 as Visekariyo. In 2016, he also was successful in directing William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with its title changed to Tamil, Premawantha Kumarayo.

Some of his famous works are Ada Vage Davasaka Antigone, Asinamali, Bakamuna Weedi Basi, Oedipus, Poth Gullee, Premawantha Kumarayo, Sihina Horu Aran Visekariyo. Some of his famous TV serials such as Abhisamaya, Ahanna Kenek Na, Charithayaka, Paata Denna, Dhawala Yamaya, Diya Ginisilu, Giri Kula, Kadadori, Maheshika, Manikkawatha, Sakarma, Satya. Priyankara has also performed in various films such as Thunweni Aha Vimukthi, Rajya Sevaya Pinisai, Janaka shooter, Irasma Tharintha Wijesundera, Guerilla Marketing, Prabhakaran Piyasoma, Aba Yakchanda, Bandhanaya Ariyapala, Sulanga Apa Ragena Yavi, Kandak Sema, Hithumathe Jeewithe IP Dasanayake, Gunananda Himi Migettuwatte, Ashawari. For his outstanding work priyankara has been awarded Best Screenplay Award in 1999 for Dorakada Marawa, Merit award for Abhisamaya in 2001 and Sulangata Enna Kiyanna Kadadora in 2012.
