Thumindu Dodantenna is a Sri Lankan actor, screenwriter, and lecturer. Not only does he act in movies or television dramas, but he also works in theatre. He graduated with a degree in Drama and Theatre and pursued his masters in Drama and Theatre from the University of Kelaniya. Thumindu debuted with the 2007 drama film Sankara, directed by Prasanna Jayakody. He starred in several other movies, including A Level, U-Turn, Night-Rider, Thanha Rathi Ranga, Nikini Vassa, Nela, etc. He has worked in several television serials, namely Pinibara Yamaya, 9 Weni Kadulla, Sahodaraya, and Koombiyo.
His theatrical gigs include Ashawe Veedi Riya, the translation of, A Streetcar Named Desire, Arundathi, Adara Wasthuwa, Dolahak, etc. Thumindu won the Bunka Awards for his remarkable achievement in Drama and Theatre at the Japan – Sri Lanka Friendship Cultural Fund in 2007. He has won the Best Upcoming Actor at the Sarasavi Film Festival, Raigam Tele’es Most Popular Actor Award in 2017, and the Signis Award for Best Actor in 2019. Currently, he is a lecturer in the Department of Performing Arts at the Sripalee Campus in Horana, Sri Lanka.
