Thanthrige Pathirage Mahinda, popularly known as Mahinda Pathirage (born on 22 March 1952) in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. His father was Thanthiri Pathirage Hendrick Appuhami. He has ten siblings in the family. Mahinda completed his education until grade 10 from Walisinghe Harishchandra Maha Vidyalaya. He continued his father’s business as painter and photo framer, after which he entered in the world of drama. Mahinda Pathrige is a popular actor in Sri Lankan cinema, stage drama and television. He particularly acts in comedy roles, and is best known for Purohitha in television sitcom Raja Sabhawa. Along with several artists in Anuradhapura, he formed a drama group called Jana Nalu Kela in 1976. His first role was in the play Aruma Naruma, which was produced by Anuradha Ranjith.
He won an award of merit for his role in that play in 1977-79. He worked in Rajarata Seva of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and also participated in a radio play Rasavita.
