Shelly Mishra, a TV host, and actress has a versatile persona. It took her almost five years to break into the entertainment industry. First, she agreed to present devotional shows. There was no turning back for Shelly after that. Her talents in soap operas and films have earned her a lot of fans. She is a cheerful, humorous, and spontaneous presenter. In a candid interview, she discusses the challenges she faced in her endeavors to build a name for herself in the Odia film industry in the lack of a godfather. Shelly, who belongs to Dhenkanal, has been interested in acting since she was young. However, because she was born into a conservative family, she was still unable to express her love of acting. She got married to Saswat Mishra, who is an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) official. Saswat found her concealed potential and offered the much-needed support that helped her to make her debut.

Her debut was in tinsel town after her marriage at 22. "I really breathe acting," adds Shelly. "Although being able to voice my desire to my parents was not possible, my spouse found my strong desire to be an actress. I decided to try acting because of his unwavering encouragement. I was rejected so many times in the beginning. Because I came from a non-filmmaking family, I had to work hard to establish my acting abilities. I was selected to portray the lead role in TV soap opera following an audition, I recall." quoted Shelly. "I also entered into a contract with the relevant agency. After two days, I discovered that the selection cast someone else for the part even tho I was selected first. It was excruciatingly painful. I became depressed. On the other hand, my husband, Saswat Mishra, pushed me to keep trying till I succeeded.

As a result, I did not give up." Shelly's perseverance paid off when she was allowed to present astrological programs on television, including Bhagyaphala, Samasya Ra Samadhan, and Sarve Bhabantu Sukhina. Aside from that, she hosted Doordarshan programs like Jagruti and Krushi Darshan. Director Subasis Pati praised her anchoring ability and offered her a minor role in the film Gadbad. It was well-received by cinema reviewers. That's how she got her start in the film industry.
