Sarbeswar Bhoi was born in Rekhpur village, in Narla, Kalahandi district of Odisha. He is a popular folk singer and sings Sambalpuri songs. His father Purusottam Bhoi is a farmer, and his mother Pana Bhoi is a housewife. He did his schooling at Narla Panchyatsamiti High School and enrolled in Madnpaur Rampur College but changed his college and completed his graduation from Government Autonomous College in Bhawanipatna. He started participating in many singing competitions and also won some. His immense love for art has made him come a long way. He has a great interest in Indian classical dance as well and was trained in Odissi under Guru Karunakar in 2006 and later under Guru Santosh Kumar Das in 2010.

In 2002 while he was studying, he participated in many competitions. He won first prize in the Mahavid Sanskrutika Anusthan singing competition. His career caught the big break in the year 2006. He was offered to record a song with Subham Music. He recorded a song named Pakhanupare Jharana Paani which made him famous among folk lovers and was recognized by people outside of Odisha as well. It basically made him a star and he didn’t have to look back from thereon.

In 2014, he sang two songs Likri Jhikri and Lal Jhara Jhara for the national award-winning Sambalpuri drama film named Aadim Vichar. He received a lot of love and recognition after this movie. His contribution to Indian folk songs and dances is massive. He is an immensely talented and artistic person. For his beautiful talent, he received a national prize as well. His contributions got him this far and he will continue to achieve heights with his talent in the future.
