Odia writer and screenwriter Harihar Mishra was born on January 20, 1940, in Markandeshwar Sahi, Puri. His father is Maniram Mishra, and his mother is Sewati Devi. He did his degree in orthodox literature, and retired as principal of a college in Puri. He is also a dramatist and poet. His major works are Chilika Tire (1978) and Dibya Asantosh (2009). His other works include Paper Bunch (1960), Banabihangi (1960), Blood Oranges of the Blue Lake (1961), Shankhnavi (1973), Muk Dahuk (1975), Bullover Ekapad (1977), Disability (1978), Percentage (1978), Condemned Gajapati (1978), The Swan (1978), Maldaria (1978), Madhulitha (1980), Empire of Desire (1980), Moonlight (1981), Penance of Lalkarda (1982), Chahani mandap (1983), The Impossible Click to look into! >> Read More... (1983), Not Now, Never (1990), Dream Exchange (1992), Inner Sandalwood (1994), The Mirror (1995), Worlds Alone Together (1995), Eshadarshan (1998), Unlettered (1998), Tone (1999), and Conch Navi and Other Poems (2002), He was also the editor of the magazine, Sambesh.
He was also the cartoon director of Sri Sri Khalipavan in 1962. He has also worked as a lyricist for the movie Taapsya (1980). He won the Sarala Award for his creation, Dibya Asantosh, and his overall contribution to Oriya literature. He is also the winner of the 1977 Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award for his drama Ratira Duiti, and was elected as its in 2016. He won the Mystic Kalinga Literary Award in the year 2020. He has also been recognized by the Delhi Sahitya Akademi. He has also won the Vanujirao Memorial Award (2007), the Life Colour Award (1983), the Jhankar Bishub Story Award (1960), the Jhankar Bishub Poetry Award (1969), the Bishub Award For Overall Achievement (1974).
