Anita Silwal is a TV host, anchor, and philanthropist. She was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. She graduated from Bhanubhakta Memorial Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu, Nepal. She completed her master’s degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University and her master’s degree in Innovation and Technology from Florida Polytechnic University. Anita also became Teen Nepal runner-up in 2007. She has worked in many films like ‘Ragat’ in 1995, ‘Sannani’ in 1994, and ‘Aadi Kabi Bhanubhakta’ in 1999. Also, she appeared in TV serials like ‘Kathmandu Ko Jindagi Ra Rahar’ in 1994 and ‘Catmandu Tele Serial’ in 2010. In 2010, Anita started working as an anchor on ‘News 24.’
She was also seen in a talk show ‘Issue of the Day.’ The center point of the talk show was political problems, social issues, feminism, and issues women have to face daily. Anita Silwal is the founder of the non-profit organization ‘Welcome Womanhood.’ The main reason behind the establishment of this organization is to educate and empower girls from all over the world and to make this world a better place for women. She also works as a Women’s Health Rights advocate, and is the central youth working committee member in the ‘Family Planning Association’ of Nepal. Anita works for the welfare of underprivileged children and poor people by raising money and running charitable programs. She is focused on both social and environmental issues.
She has appeared in an interview with Jonathan Reckford, the CEO of Habitat for Humanity International Global. In her interview with ICIMOD (International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development), she was seen questioning the contribution of international organizations in achieving the Millennium Development Goals of Nepal as Director David Molden raised concern for rising glacial lakes and how it can impact Nepal and Asia. She has won several awards. In 1999, she became the runner-up of ‘Little Lady Nepal,’ and in 2000, she won the ‘Best Actor Award’ for the movie ‘Bhanubhakta,’ the award was presented by the late Prime Minister of Nepal ‘Girija Prasad Koirala.’
In 2007 she became the runner-up of ‘Miss Teen Nepal,’ and earned the title of ‘Best Television Journalist Award’ from ‘The Housewives Association of Nepal’ in 2012. In 2015, she won ‘Journalism Award’ from ‘The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).’ In 2018 she won the ‘Best Television Anchor Award,’ and in 2019, she won the ‘She Knows where she’s Going Award’ from ‘Girls Incorporated of Lakeland,’ USA.
