Laxmi Giri, or Laxmi Paudel, is a Nepalese stage, TV, and film actress who has worked in Nepali, Tamang, Maithili, Newari, and Bhojpuri languages. Laxmi Giri was born on 19 January 1955 in Devpatan, Kathmandu, to Ujeli Adhikari and Muktinath Paudel. She is married to Ratna Kumar Giri. Laxmi Giri studied at Pashupati Pathshala, which is now Sharada Secondary School. She began acting as a child artist at 11 years old in stage plays in Pashupati.
She worked at Nepal Rashtra Bank for 16 years before pursuing acting as a professional career. Laxmi Giri has worked in over 150 films, 600 television shows, and 20 advertisements. Some of her notable works in films include- Thuldai, Pareni Maya Jalaima, Simana, Prem Geet, Darpan Chhaya, Jhola, Teen Ghumti and many others. For her role in Jhola, Laxmi Giri won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the NFDC National Film Awards in 2014.Â
