Deshbhakta Khanal is an actor of Nepali origin. His career in acting began as a stage actor and his first play was Gorakha Bhartikendra, followed by Merchant of Venice. Later, he moved to Television as an assistant director and his first TV series was Guruaama Nepalki. He then worked in feature films with the movie Bijaya Parajaya where he acted as well as worked as an assistant director. Since then, he has acted in over 20 feature films, over forty TV serials, and stage dramas. Apart from his career in acting, he also worked as a screenwriter on about 20 projects.
In 1999, he started working as a full-fledged Nepalese film director. The films he has directed include Baazee , Man Mero Mandaina, Pinjada, Santan Thari Tharika and Achanak. He has also worked in international projects such as the Japanese film Miteri Gaun (Tomodachi No Mura) where he worked as a screenwriter, assistant director and actor He has also appeared in the American film Highway to Dhampus. Recent acting projects include Chiso Manche, Nalpani and Ama.
