Dayanand Kukkaje is a photojournalist who worked for Daijiworld. He was born and brought up in Mangalore. His parents are MK Kukaje and Umavathi Kukaje. He completed his schooling at Government High School, Manila, in Mangalore. He learned photojournalism at the Newspaper National Network. Dayanand has been married to Prathiba BN since 2018.

In 2014, he was felicitated by Minister UT Kadar and actor Shivadwaj on Press Club Day for his service to the media. In 2016, he worked in the Tulu film Dabak Daba Aisa, a Tulu film, which was cinematographed by "Utpal V Nayanar." In 2022, he won the Top Appreciable Photographer title at the Global Photography Contest Season 3. Innovize Arts and Culture organized the contest. Besides bagging the title, he was honoured with a medal of appreciation in the contest where the photographers in India and non-resident Indian photographers took part.
