He has two young sons and a daughter. Shaukat is a strict and disciplined man.

He is the owner of a leather factory in Karachi. He is stern with his employees as well as his family. Everyone around him is scared of him. Shaukat is a snobby man who only cares about his status. Shaukat’s sons are- Wajaha, the elder son and Sudath, the younger son. Shaukat’s youngest daughter, Zinnia is a mentally challenged woman. However, she has not always been this way. When Zinia was in college, she fell in love with her classmate, Asif. Both wanted to marry, so Asif’s family asked for Zinnia’s hand in marriage. He did not want Zinna to marry according to her wish but his wish. He rejects the marriage proposal and insults Asif’s family. A few days later, Asif puts himself ablaze due to rejection. It is believed he perished. Zinnia gets the shock of her life and becomes mentally unstable. She is mostly kept locked in her room where her mother visits her daily.

Shaukat stops caring about her. One day, Shaukat’s friend, Azimuddin asked him to let his son stay at his house for a few days as he was new to Karachi. Shaukat only offered to help his friend as he had helped him long back. Azimuddin’s son, Sami starts staying at their home. He discovers Zinna who has been locked in a room by the family. Gradually, he makes friends with her. Sami’s mother had committed suicide when he was a child. He is quite affected by the topic of mental issues. He takes an interest in Zinnia. She seems to be happy with Sami’s presence. Zinnia believes that Sami is Asif. Wajaha’s wife, Humaira is a clever and evil woman. She intentionally stirs up problems in the house to fulfill her selfish desires.

She wants Zinna to get married to anyone so that she and her husband will not be responsible for her anymore. Sami decides to marry Zinnia to help her regain her memories and to cure her. Sami’s colleague, Sanam, had a liking towards him. She is heartbroken at the news of Sami’s marriage. Sami plans to marry Zinnia with the risk that once she is cured, she might not love Sami. Shockingly, it is revealed that Asif is alive and was in America for his plastic surgery. He wants to come back into her life, but Zinnia feels betrayed. Sanam conspires to break their marriage. Humaira instigates against the marriage as she wants Zinnia to marry a relative for her selfish objectives. However, ultimately, Zinnia chooses Sami as her life partner.
