Satyameva Jayathe Telugu is an Indian talk show which got aired on the ETV Telugu channel. It is originally a Hindi language series which got dubbed in multiple languages across the country and aired simultaneously on various channels at the same time. It got produced and distributed by the Star Network in collaboration with DD National, owned by the Doordarshan Network, India’s national television channel. The show debuted on Indian television on 6th May 2012. It proved to be the debut on television of the acclaimed Bollywood filmmaker and superstar, Aamir Khan.
The series got revived for a second season which went on air on 2nd March 2014 with the third season getting launched on 5th October 2014. The show got aired on Sundays usually at the 11:00 AM time slot. The series focused on sensitive topics which affect the Indian society. Many issues which are widely prevalent all over India got discussed over the course of the various episodes. These include highly sensitive problems like that of female foeticide, sexual abuse of children, rapes, honor killing, untouchability, domestic violence, alcoholism, and even the criminalization of political activities. Satyameva Jayathe tries to bring to light some of the astounding achievements of people that very often go without getting noticed or acknowledged.
This acts as a form of encouragement to members of the audience to chase and try to achieve their dreams and goals irrespective of what or who stands in between. The series attempted to empower the citizens by providing them with information regarding our country, and in turn, urge them towards taking constructive action to improve and build on that which already exists. In order to expand and multiply the reach of the series, it got dubbed and telecast simultaneously in eight different languages. These include Bengali, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, and even Telugu.
They got subtitled in English as well keeping the reach of the show in mind, though the primary language of the shoot remained Hindi. The popularity of the show was so widespread that the first season saw viewers responding from over one hundred and sixty-five different countries. Some as far and wide as Sierra Leone, Seychelles, Isle of Man, Djibouti, and also Papua New Guinea. The show managed to raise a total of Rs. 22.3 Crore as a part of donations received on behalf of the NGOs which got featured in this season of the program.
The second season got extremely popular as well where it got viewed by over 600 Million Indian citizens. Similar to the first time around, the causes which got discussed over the course of the show garnered support from over 3 Crore people.
