Kalyanotsavam is a Telugu devotional programme that airs on the channel SVBC every day at 12 pm. It runs for one hour. The programme features the live event of the wedding of Lord Venkateshwara happening in the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam. The programme is witnessed live by thousands of devotees. It starts with an aerial view of the temple, followed by a pandit telling the devotees about the divinity of Lord Venkateshwara. The event starts by chanting Govindanamalu and then slokas to wed Lord Venkateshwara to Goddess Lakshmi, exactly like we see in Hindu weddings. The pandit shows the ‘thaali’ to the audience before being placed on the deity. In between the slokas, a pandit narrates various stories about Lord Venkateshwara and gives instances in which he has saved mankind. The event ends with aarthi. The show is watched by many viewers from all over the country as they believe that watching it would bring them health and prosperity.
