Nepal Idol is a singing competition in Nepal that is part of the Idols franchise created by Fremantle Media. The show first aired in 2017 on AP1 TV, with auditions held in seven cities across Nepal for contestants aged 16 to 30. The inaugural season was won by Buddha Lama from Pokhara, with a record-breaking 93,100,000 votes cast for the grand finale. The final event of season 3 was affected by a COVID-19-positive case from a production team member, resulting in the winner being declared by digital method. In early 2018, an announcement was made that Nepal Idol would be returning for another season. Auditions for season 2 began on March 20 in Bhairahawa, with additional locations in Dhangadhi, Hetauda, Dharan, Pokhara, and Kathmandu. Following the conclusion of the auditions, the show premiered on August 7, with Suresh Paudel, Aleen Shrestha, and Lokesh Bajracharya serving as directors for the season.
Aleen Shrestha, the director of Nepal's first-ever franchise dance reality show Boogie Woogie Nepal, and Lokesh Bajracharya, a well-known name in the visual editing field in Nepal, was part of the directing team. Asif Shah and Reema Bishwokarma hosted the show, with Mohan Raj Adhikari and Babu Surace D.C. (Surace Dulal) serving as assistant directors. The Director of Photography for the season was Shiva Ram Shrestha.
