The story shows Abhishek (played by Jitendra Kumar), an engineering graduate who becomes the secretary of a Panchayat office in the remote village of Phulera, Uttar Pradesh, due to limited job opportunities in the corporate sector.

Despite being unhappy about the job, he goes to Phulera and joins the Panchayat office. Here, he gets introduced to the rural lifestyle and its issues. As an aid to his boredom, the Pradhan-Pati, also called Pradhan ji (played by Raghubir Yadav), Upa-Pradhan (played by Faisal Malik), and office assistant, Vikas (played by Chandan Roy Chandan Roy is an Indian actor who has worked in s >> Read More... ) formed a close bond with Abhishek. He is preparing for the CAT entrance examinations.

Season 1 of the show portrayed Abhishek's difficulties at work, his growing relationships with his colleagues, and his eventual acceptance. Additionally, the show highlighted the political realities of rural areas, where women get selected as candidates for elections. But their husbands take advantage of their position as Pradhan-Pati and exert power over the community. Phulera village also had a female pradhan played by Neena Gupta. At the end of the series, she showed women's empowerment by gathering all the ladies for the Republic Day celebration when the District Magistrate was supposed to come for inspection.

Season 2 was the continuation of the daily satirical issues of the village with a twist of friendship between Abhishek and Rinki, daughter of Pradhan Ji. This season showed the lack of public cleanliness in the people of the rural areas and how the authorities of villages misuse the resources procured by the Government. Some comic village politics and disappointments added to the comic drama and had a mix of emotional scenes to show the reality of friendships and enmity.

The series concluded with a sad note, as Prahalad ji, or Upa-Pradhan's son, got martyred. Some misconceptions led an egoistic MLA to terminate Abhishek from his post. The series concluded with Rinki and her mother receiving a letter of termination with the name of Abhishek. The makers have confirmed a Season 3. It would be interesting to see what makers would bring to the table with the new season.

Panchayat is a Hindi-language web series from Amazon. It premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2020. It is the celebration of passion and resilience. There have been two seasons so far. The show's second installation follows Abhishek, an engineering graduate who works  as a panchayat secretary in a remote village in Uttar Pradesh. Abhishek is trapped between the chaos of village life, eccentric villagers, and the difficulties of adapting to an alternative lifestyle. Hoping to escape his dull routine, he sets out on a mission to do well in the CAT exam and find a job to release him from his current predicament. The show includes Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav Chandan Roy, Faisal Malik, Sanvikaa and Neena Gupta. Written by Chanan Kumar. Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra.
