Kala Ramnath is an Indian violin prodigy, born on 29th May 1967 in Chennai, Tamilnadu, to Malathy and T.N. Mani. She hails from a family with lineages of musicians, Mewati Gharana, including violinists Prof. T. N Krishnan and Dr. N. Rajam. Introduced to the world of violin at the age of two and a half, and performing from the age of twelve, she has reinvented the art of handling the instrument and earned the name 'the singing violin' for her violin. She trained under her grandfather, A. Narayan Iyer, and the legendary vocalist Pandit Jasraj. She was the first Indian violinist featured in The Strad-the violin Bible.
