Kunal Kapur is a famous chef and restaurateur. He was born in New Delhi in the year 1979. His birthday is on 18th September. He was born to a Punjabi family. Some of his family members were bankers, and when he was young, he was prepared to be a banker. However, cooking was part of his life from a young age, as all the men in his family were good cooks. He wanted to be different from his other family members, and so he did a course in hotel management in Chandigarh. This is when his passion for cooking really came to the fore. The first place where he worked was at the Taj group of hotels. He was a trainee for the management of kitchens.
He shot to fame when he hosted and judged the cooking show Master Chef India on Star Plus. He was regarded by the audience as a rude judge, but to this day Kunal claims that he is just honest and outspoken.
He specializes in Indian cuisine. The chef owns a few restaurants, but the first that he opened was called ‘Made In India’. The hotel where he worked that has helped him the most is the award winning Diya Hotel. He claims that if he had not worked there, he would have probably not made it to Master Chef India.
He has also released a cookbook called ‘A Chef in Every Home’. He has received the Sir Edmund Hillary Fellowship award in 2012 for the sector of food and beverage. The award is a national New Zealand award.
