Through this show, Rakesh explored the beautiful southern Indian highways, including the exploration of adjoining cities like Ooty, Chettinad, Puducherry, Rameshwaram, Kodaikanal, and Sathyamangalam.

The drive through the connecting roads of South India would encourage the viewers to take a road trip and start their expeditions. The show started running on 30 October 2022 at 08:00 PM on Zee Zest and Zee Zest HD. It was a weekly show, telecasting the fresh episodes on Sunday. All ten episodes are available on the official website and application of Zee5 for the viewers to watch online.

Rakesh started the journey from Chennai, driving towards Coimbatore (the Manchester of South India) to explore the GeeDee Car Museum. The exploratory drive through Coimbatore gave him the experience of steering on a racetrack. Rakesh continued his exploration by driving towards the Queen of Hill Stations, Ooty, through the luscious and green Nilgiris. At Ooty, he had an immersive relaxation at MindEscapes. Later, Rakesh moved forward with the journey to discover the largest moving telescope at the Ooty Radio Telescope. Driving to his next destination, Sathyamangalam, he interacted with local tribal communities to learn more about them. He also visited Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve to meet the forest rangers and learn about the techniques they use to track the animals.

It is a lesser-known fact that in India, Kodaikanal is the leading grower of Avocados. Rakesh's next exploration spot was Kodaikanal through the picturesque scenery of Dindigul district. In Kodaikanal, he enjoyed a beautiful walk-through of an avocado farm and learned more about it. Rakesh met a group of female entrepreneurs from a tribal community who have created a famous and successfully running honey brand. Kodaikanal brought out the chef of Rakesh, and he could be spotted cooking on a farm of Kodaikanal.

The travel show ends on a thrilling note as Rakesh goes on an exciting expedition to Rameshwaram, the southernmost tip of the Indian Peninsula in the Gulf of Mannar. The Rameshwaram trip is about the beautiful turquoise blue sea. Rakesh goes on an exciting session of water sports like snorkeling and surfing. Highway Dreams is an exploratory trip to the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu through beautiful highways like The East Coast Road and NH45.
