This series is an adaptation of Raja Ranichi Ga Jodi, a Marathi series. It is also remade in Tamil as Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, and Sorath Ni Mrs. Singham in Gujarati. Mera Balam Thanedaar started premiering on 3rd January 2024.

Bulbul Rajawat is a young girl from the Rajawat family. She doesn’t consider lying a sin if it is for a good cause. Veerpratap Singh is an IPS officer who hates people lying. Bulbul’s father, Devendra Rajawat, is interested in gambling, and he gets stuck in debt to Mangal Chauhan, his friend. As her husband is stuck with financial issues, Devendra Rajawat’s wife, Geeta, sells pickles with Bulbul. Drishti Rajawat, the elder sister of Bulbul, was engaged in her childhood to Veerpratap Singh. So, they are in love with each other. Drishti, without the knowledge of her family, applied to study in London. Bulbul’s elder brother, Amber, is studying in another city.

Veer’s mother passed away when he was young. He lives with his father, Vardhan Singh, his elder brother, Vishesh Singh, and an elder sister, Vani. Vishesh is similar to Veer. He is an anchor and hates lies. Vani is married and has a son with her husband, Rajat. Vani settled in her father’s house, and her husband is dead. Her son, Vyom, considers his maternal uncle, Veer, as his father. Rajat and Veer’s families don’t have good terms. Rajat’s mother is a politician, and her other son, Rana, is Veer’s enemy. He is an inspector of the Police.

When a shop owner didn’t play for her mother’s pickles, Bulbul disguised as a cop and threatened him. At the same time, Veer is chasing Ratan Chauhan, a guy who sells young girls as brides by forging their birth certificates. While chasing, he saw Bulbul in the cop uniform and instructed her to catch the criminal. However, Veer found that she was a fake cop. Veer doesn’t know that Drishti has a sister, and Bulbul, too, doesn’t know that he is the person who was engaged to his sister in their childhood. They meet again during the engagement and are shocked to see each other. What happened next? Did he inform this to Drishti? Was he able to forgive Bulbul? The rest of the story revolves around the families of Veer, Bulbul, and Rana.
