Tamil Movie Review Urumeen - Cast & Crew

Roshni Suresh is an Indian playback vocalist who initially hails from Tamil Nadu. She was raised in Trichy and Chennai and she is acclaimed for her playback singing in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. She is as of now one of the competitors in the well-known Tamil unscripted TV dramas Super Singer 7, Vijay Television. She did her B.E in Computer Engineering at RREC, Chennai. The tunes talk as if they were being sung in an anteroom. She is an uncommon creator who needs to contribute her vitality with music and melodies.

Reshmi Menon is a promising Indian actress hailing from Kerala. She is seen to be appearing in Tamil Films. The discovery of this actress was quite like every girl’s fantasy. She accompanied a friend of hers to audition for a role. The film was Inidhu Inidhu and she got herself cast as the lead in it. Reshmi was a child star in the 2003 movie, Jayam. Reshmi studied Visual Communication at Women's Christian College in Chennai. She pursued this course as she loved the media. She got her first movie Inidhu Inidhu,which was produced byPrakash Raj in 2010. She did the shooting while she was still in college. She had to leave her classes at her college for the filming. The film was a remake of the Telugu film Happy Days. Reshmi had to reprise the role of actress Tamannah in it.

Sandra Amy was born on fifth June 1992, in Kerala, India. From her childhood itself, she had cultivated in herself, a passion towards movies and acting. Her passion led her to the sets of ‘Omana Thingal Kidavo’ which was released in 1996 when she was just four years old. The movie was a huge success, know for its innocent portrayal of children’s feelings and their relation to others. Sandra’s performance as ‘Chinnu’ gained a lot of recognition from the Malayalee audience.

Kavya Ajit (also spelled as Kavya Ajith) is an Indian Playback Singer. She was born in the year 1991 and was brought up in a small town of Kozhikode. To pursue her career she moved to Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu. She is a Western violinist and a Carnatic Singer. Her first and foremost teacher in the music world was her grandmother, Kamala Subrahmaniam. Her grandma was also a former All India Radio Artist. She was the one who taught Kavya the basics in the Carnatic Music. Kavya considers that she isn’t a born singer but a trained one. It was her daily rigorous practice session that have brought her to where she is. She completed her studies in engineering and joined a Service Oriented company in Chennai. In the city, when she saw everyone else pursue their dreams, she decided to go after hers too.

Sakthivel Perumalsamy is an Indian film director, who was debuted in the 2016 Tamil action-fantasy film, Urumeen, starring National-award winning actor Bobby Simha, Reshmi Menon, and Kalaiyarasan. Perumalsamy has spent four years working as an Editor, before plunging into film direction. He wishes to work with Ajith Kumar in the future.

G Dilli Babu is a well-known film producer working in the Tamil film industry, Kollywood. The projects he invested in include, Urumeen (2015), Maragadha Naanayam (2017), Iravukku Aayiram Kangal (2018), Raatsasan (2018), and Oh My Kadavule (2020). Urumeen is a movie telling a story of reincarnation as the lead man remembers details about his previous life. Reshmi Menon and Bobby Simha are playing prominent roles and the director is Sakthivel Perumalaswamy.

Ravindranath Guru is a cinematographer from the Tamil film industry. He took an M.A degree and is now an established film cinematographer. He earned popularity through Sakthivel Perumalsamy’s Urumeen in 2015, where Bobby Simha, Kalaiyarasan, and Reshmi Menon starred in the lead roles.

Achu Rajamani belongs from a musical family background as his father and grandfather who was a perfectionist in music was well-known in the Malayalam music industry. They all had music as an extra language. Achu Rajamani was raised around music but he was interested in aviation and wanted to be a pilot but following the family legacy, chose music direction as his profession and quit over aviation. He got his breakthrough as a music director in the year 2008.

Mani Amudhavan is a popular singer and lyricist. He writes and sings for movies as well as albums. His some of the popular works in the music department as a lyricist are Samignai, Goli Soda, Urumeen, Goli soda 2, Pudhiya Mugam, and many more. He was a lyricist of an action-drama-thriller ‘Yaanum Theeyavan’ released in 2017. His well-known works in the soundtrack department are Bakrid, Kee, Thaanaa Serndha Koottam, 10, Iraivi, among others.

Kamalaja Rajagopal is an Indian playback singer who works predominately in the Tamil film industry. She gathered people's attention with the song Kannukulla Nikkira En Kadhalane released in 2019. She has sung in over 25 films across languages such as Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Kamalaja was born on 19th March 1993 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and brought up in Chennai. She shifted to Chennai at a very young age because of her father's job transfer.

Vijay Yesudas (Born: 23rd March, 1979) is an Indian classical musician and playback singer from Chennai. He is known for his work predominantly in the south Indian film Industry, especially Malayalam, and Tamil films as well as in other Indian Languages such as Telegu, Kannada, and Hindi.

San Lokesh is a creative person and an editor with a strong grasp of technical knowledge. He has worked in several films and is known for his work in the Tamil Film Industry. He is born on 26th May 1986 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is married to Sangamani Anbumani. He started his path towards success by graduating in Visual Communication and then entered the Film Industry with the art of Film editing. He started working as an assistant editor to Suraj Kavee where he got the experience of editing some famous films like Vaamanan (released in the year 2009), Vellore Maavattam (released in the year 2011), and Khandhakottai (released in the year 2009). 

K Ganesh Kumar is one of south India’s most famous stunt director. During the period 1994 to 2006, he worked as a stuntman. Later he ventured in action direction. Ganesh Kumar’s father and grandfather were stuntmen. Ganesh Kumar has worked on action sequences in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films.

The transformation of Bobby Jayasimha of remote Kodaikanal to Bobby Simha of the Chennai film industry has not been without the inevitable twists and turns that normally affect those striving to enter films from humbler backgrounds.

Kali Venkat hails from a rural village named Kovilpatti in Tamil Nadu from where he came to Chennai to pursue his acting career. From childhood, he had a huge passion and interest for acting, He used to take part in lots of dramas hosted in his school and his locality since he was studying in the eighth standard. Realizing that his village would limit his acting career to the stage and the drama medium alone, He moves to Chennai for further opportunities.

Karthik Yogi is an actor and script writer in Tamil film industry. He is best known for his work as an actor in films like Balloon in 2017, Sawaari in 2016 and many more. His hometown is in Chennai, India. He has studied in School of Excellence in Law, Tamil Nadu. Other films he has worked in were Inbox in 2012, Ninaithathu Yaaro in 2014 and Urumeen in 2015. He worked in movie Maangaram in 2017. This action thriller drama was written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The dialogues of this film were written by Karthik Yogi and Chandra A.

Sivabalan Alias Appukutty is a Tamil film actor, who was born in a village called Nathan Kinaru in Tuticorin district. He shifted his residence to Chennai in the year 1994 to do some business. To make his living safe, he worked in hotels as a server. Later, he got a chance to link with some cinema personalities and entered Tamil cinema. Initially, he acted in some uncredited roles in the films like Ghilli, Marumalarchi, Solla Marandha Kadhai and Azhagiya Tamil Magan.

Kalaiyarasan Harikrishnan was born in Chennai to parents- Harikrishnan and Tamilmani. His brother, Rajesh Kumar Kalaiyarasan, is also an actor working in the Tamil industry. Before he began his career in acting, he used to work for a private firm, where he met his future wife-Shanmuga Priya. Kalaiyarasan completed his higher education at SRM University as a graduate in computer applications.

Anthony Daasan is an Indian singer, traditional Tamil folk musician, lyricist and an artist hailing from Reddiyarpalayam, Puducherry,Tamil Nadu. He currently lives in Chennai, India. He was born on 26th April 1977. He completed his education from the Government High School of Tanjore. Music is an associated and ever-lasting part of his life. He connected to music from a very young age. His vision and dreams lead to him celebrating the flavor of folk music internationally.

Comedy is the forte of Manobala (Manobala Mahadevan), who is also a director. He was born on 4th June 1953 and acts in supporting roles too. His primary region of interest is Tamil. He has over 40 movies and 16 television serials to his credit. Having worked in 3 telefilms too, he has over 200 movies to his credit. He has worked under director Bharathiraja. 

Hailing from Sulur, Manobala forayed into the Tamil industry with the 1994 flick Thaaimaaman. Doing trivial roles initially, he switched to comedy later. He was appreciated for his comedy, and his skinny appearance added to the laughter of the audience. His rapport with Kamal Haasan, though commendable in the initial stages, was not good after some problems with the Directors Union. But later Manobala confessed that, he doesn’t hold any grudges with Kamal Haasan. The Sun TV program Asathapovathu Yaaru has Manobala’s presence frequently. He had a brief stint with production through the film Sathuranga Vettai. 

Oor Kavalan, Aagaya Gangai, Sirai Paravai, Moodu Manthiram, Pillai Nila, Moondrezhuthil En Moochirukkum, Karuppu Vellai and Nandini are a few flicks of his direction. As an actor his works are Natpukkaga, Taj Mahal, Annai, Minsara Kanna, Perazhagan, Priyasakhi, Samudhiram, Ghajini, Varalaaru, Thambi, Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, Santhosh Subramaniam, Polladhavan, Dindigul Sarathy, Abhiyum Naanum etc. Manobala is active in the industry from 1982 to till date. Manobala is credited to have done projects with three generations. He is a simple person and doesn’t like publicity. 

On his personal front Manobala is wedded to Usha. 

Manobala stated that people asked him to direct films like Pillai Nila. KS Ravikumar tapped his comical streak and his life changed a lot due to him. Manobala is grateful to K S Ravikumar for that. He feels that directing 40 films is indeed a commendable one.  

On 3rd May 2023, Manobala died in Chennai. He was suffering from illness related to pancreas. His sudden death saddened the film industry and fans.
