Kamalaja Rajagopal

Kamalaja Rajagopal is an Indian playback singer who works predominately in the Tamil film industry. She gathered people's attention with the song Kannukulla Nikkira En Kadhalane released in 2019. She has sung in over 25 films across languages such as Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Kamalaja was born on 19th March 1993 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and brought up in Chennai. She shifted to Chennai at a very young age because of her father's job transfer.

She completed her higher education at The Hindu Higher Secondary School, Chennai. Kamalaja graduated from, MOP Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai (Madras) in 2013. Other than Tamil, she can speak English, Malayalam, and Hindi language. Kamalaja currently lives in Chennai, India. Since childhood, Kamalaja had a significant interest in singing. Her mother is also a vocalist. In her younger days, singers like Chitra and Sujatha were a massive inspiration for her.

Now, she keenly follows the works of Musician Shweta Mohan and Shreya Goshal. Kamalaja used to perform at her school and college events. In 2013, she took part in SunTV - Sunsinger Season 2, which got people to notice her talent. After the show, Kamalaja started performing at a lot of corporate events such as TATA dealers meet and Audi Car launch exhibitions.

She and her band used to have regular gigs at television events and abroad occasions too. Kamalaja has performed in music shows held at locations like Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. In Sri Lanka alone, she has performed in 10 different events. In 2014, Kamalaja sang a duet with Singer Vijay Prakash in the movie Ula. She has also sung in independent albums in collaboration with Star Music India. She has a YouTube channel where she publishes covers of popular Tamil songs. Kamalaja recently collaborated with musician Ghatam Umashakar for a YouTube music series. In the future, she wants to become as popular as singer Chitra.
