Plot

Deivendran’s son falls in love with Vellappan’s daughter, Tamizhselvi. Vellappan is a casteist, which doesn’t go well with the hero, who follows Periyar’s principles. He has five friends who follow Periyar. An unexpected thing happens and makes friends split. The rest of the film showcases how they find out the people responsible for the mishap, solve the issues and reunite.

Star Performance

Sasikumar is okayish with his low-expression performance. Madonna didn’t have much to do. Mahendran and Hareesh Peradi have got solid roles, and they did their best. The comedy portions involving Soori didn’t work out. Aruldoss, Abi Saravanan, and the rest of the cast have done what is assigned to them.

Analysis

The story is neat, and the screenplay is engaging with a series of incidents flowing at the right intervals. The second half is much predictable. The portions involving Sasikumar and Madonna needed to have been trimmed. The caste politics, friendship, romance, and family relationships are shown well. Samuthirakani makes a cameo and once again proves his friendship with Sasikumar. The music is okayish but not impressive. The camera works are good, and the editing should have been better.

Verdict

Kombu Vatcha Singamda has some good and dull moments with predictable scenes in the second half. If those negative points are side-lined, the film is a decent watch!
