Top 10 Bollywood Movies That Were Banned By The Censor Board Hindi Article

In terms of the number of films produced each year, Bollywood is the world's largest film industry. Aside from the successes, failures, and mediocrity, there is another sort of Indian film that is purposefully kept out of our sight. Films that use bold language, provocative scenes, gender taboos, religion, and political themes, and are generally ahead of their time. Here's a list of the top 10 movies that were banned by the Censor Board, not that the audience missed any of them:

'Fire,' for example, received widespread critical praise but failed to appease Hindu organizations (such as the Shiv Sena) in India owing to its topic, which dealt with a lesbian relationship of two sisters-in-law in a Hindu family. According to reports, the film is based on the 1997 Joshi-Abhyankar serial killings. The film was a thriller involving high-octane violence, drug abuse, and crude language. As a result, the Censor Board decided to ban the picture, and those looking forward to its release had to settle for a pirated version.

3. The Pink Mirror (2003)

While experimental films became the trend, gender concerns remained a sensitive subject to investigate. The plot centered on two transsexuals and a homosexual teenager trying to attract a straight man. No wonder the Censor Board was appalled by the picture's "vulgarity" and banned it, despite the fact that it received extraordinary honours at film festivals across the world.

4. Water (2005)

Water is yet another Deepa Mehta film that has sparked debate due to its grim depictions of the life of an Indian widow. Set at a Varanasi Ashram, the screenplay was penned by the one and only Anurag Kashyap and addressed complex subjects such as ostracism and sexism, which were unfamiliar to the Indian Censor Board at the time. No surprise, the film was heavily assaulted by demonstrators, with over 2000 extremists destroying the film's sets.

5. Inshallah, Football (2010)

This is a docudrama about a Kashmiri child who wants to tour the world and one day become a great footballer. However, because his father is accused of militancy, the youngster is barred from leaving the country. This film was meant to highlight the hardships that people endure due to rebellions and insurgency in the Kashmir Region. Still, its goal was thwarted when it was denied the requisite censor certificate owing to its sensitive subject.

6. Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela (2013)

Prabhu Samaj Dharmik Leela Committee filed a petition against the film's original title, Ram Leela since they thought it offended religious feelings. Bhansali modified the title to 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela,' and the film was able to have a peaceful release.
