The Trip to Italy is a sequel to the television series ‘The Trip.’ It is a British comedy directed and written by Michael Winterbottom. The movie involves two characters Rob and Steve, played by Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan, as they explore the countryside of Italy enjoying the food, and talking about life and their relationships.
From the trailer it is easy to tell that this movie is explorative of the food, culture, and beauty of Italy as experienced by the two individuals. The scenery and the locations are exquisite and the cinematography really captures the allure of the country wit its rolling hills, crystal clear sea, and the lovely countryside. The budding friendship between the two is as clear as the day. The back and forth banter on the most inane of things like Michael Buble and many other vexing but still hilarious and witty repartee makes the movie engaging to see.
Though the critics scored the film positively, the viewers were less than favourable in their scoring. Some feel the movie to be dull and drab without a proper narrative. The improvisation of the actors and their naturalistic performance makes this an enjoyable film. Fans of the first will appreciate the sequel not only for the banter but also for the breathtaking sites.
