The Duff Teasers, Trailers & Video Songs

The Duff is a teen comedy directed by Ari Sandel. The movie is all about breaking out of societal norms and accepting the person underneath. The Duff is someone in a social group who is less popular due to their physical and emotional insecurities, thus making them approachable and a gateway to the more highly ranked members of the group. The trailer opens introducing the classic labels of high school, the Jock, the Geek, the Rocker and the Mean Girl.

But one more secret designation exists, the Duff. When Bianca, played by Mae Whitman, gets branded as one she tries to prove Wes, played by Robbie Amell, wrong but soon realizes the truth behind it. The trailer shows the pair trying to solve her problem by making her more desirable. The video has a surplus of hilarious jokes mixing in with the clips to give us an entertaining teaser to the movie.

Mae Whitman’s performance is commendable and totally relatable by all. The reviews were mostly positive. Though it does not measure up to teenage drama legends like the Mean Girls or other classic 90’s films, it ranks up there as an amusing story with a heartfelt message about self-acceptance and love for oneself.
