Plot
Nehma is an Adivasi woman in Jharkhand. She has two kids, Guntu and Dhaanu. She gets a job at a data labelling centre. The employees train the AIs with images and videos. Nehma is fighting to gain custody of her kids from her husband. Nehma’s interaction with AI, exploring its ethical dilemmas and hidden biases, brings out something different.
Star Performance
Sonal Madhushankar portrayed Nehma beautifully. Aranya Sahay’s performance as an officer is quite decent.
Analysis
The storytelling is a bit hard for this kind of complicated subject. The film showcases a lot about AI’s pluses rather than projecting it as a threat. It also focuses on the biases. The pacing is slow in the first half. However, the director explained certain things clearly. Nehma’s character is written well. The emotional bonding between her and her children is discussed well, providing the actress a wider platform to showcase her talent. It also highlights women’s contribution in data annotation and algorithmic development, besides questioning AI and marginalized communities’ intersection. Although the film goes on well, at times, we can notice some preachy elements. The visuals are pretty decent, and the BGM is just okay.

Verdict
The film should be appreciated for its attempt to focus on AI from a different perspective, rather than portraying it as a threat!
