Analysis
Lots of things and means come into Slack Bay, so we have an original and thrilling movie. The director draws on exaggerated visuals, non-traditional framing, and other means, which are included in the film's general atmosphere, and thus it is generally unique and dreamy. Dumont went for a combination of trained actors and non-professionals which fuelled speed and spontaneity in the actings. His way of filmmaking is funny, horrific, absurd, and black comedy and they are balanced out by it too. The cinematographer Guillaume Deffontaines, perfectly enhances the atmosphere quality with striking visuals. The film’s aesthetics have been well maintained by the production designer using appropriate props, costume and location. The music by Christophe complements the dark comedies and also adds the depth in emotions. Editing has fulfilled most of the visions of Dumont by aligning the movie scenes creatively and also bringing the thrill to audience.
