During his childhood his family used to migrate a lot, his major youth life was spent in Arizona. He directed the Duel in the 1960s which were a television movie earning him the title of youngest director in the universe. The series was a hit one who gave him a lot of appreciation making him one of the successful directors. His movies were always experimental and based on various topics and themes. Movies like Jaws in 1975 were based on the issues of ancient fears, E.T.in 1982. These movies had a very different concept as it was not imagined by anyone before. His movies were filled with the adventure which would keep the audience on the movie.
