Plot
Michael and Olivia are relaxing in Baja, Mexico, when all of a sudden, their vacation turns into a nightmare. One evening, a cruel cartel kidnaps Olivia before the stunned Michael. A cartel enforcer tells him the only way to get her back alive is to smuggle a mysterious package across the U.S.-Mexico border--within 24 hours. In dire straits, with no option left, Michael agrees. While on his mission, he soon realizes he is being watched--not just by the cartel but also by law enforcement and rival criminals. The tension builds higher step by step while the line between surviving and failing becomes thin. The only person he can count on is Detective Jesus, who looks to have his agenda in the time running out. With precious time slipping away, Michael is approaching the border when he stumbles upon a shocking discovery concerning the parcel, changing everything he ever knew into something entirely different. Will he accomplish his mission and save Olivia, or is he just another expendable piece on a deadly chessboard?
Star Performance
This film is a spine-chilling, fast-paced thriller with influential performances and tense direction. Shawn Lock is Michael here-an embodiment of desperation and determination, convincingly; Jacob Vargas and Rudy Youngblood inject their roles as menacing cartel enforcers with intensity. Tom Sizemore breathes life into his role as the detective, layering the character with complexity. Director Daniel Zirilli assembles high tension through well-paced narration and razor-sharp action sequences. The cinematography ably captures Baja's gritty underbelly; that defined suspense in the film. Albeit using some clichГ©d plot mechanisms in a thriller, it is nonetheless an involving but shallow film. Crossing Point is a film full of action and high speed but nothing more.
Analysis
Crossing Point: With the underwhelming climax-exculpating entry of its yet another posse of strong characters, the DVD could not quite work. A straight action was thrown in for good measure: a short, Mayans-style breakdown of events, a layered, hidden plot, and violence from beginning to end, all to save the life of a kidnapped undercover agent. Direction is around during the whole pay-off point of the film, heightening tension to ensue at almost every moment. Lock is effectively on-the-money as Michael, realistic in his appertain psychological fever and resolution, if one can say the essence of their feeling's depth—Tom Sizemore commands, Jacob Vargas, and Rudy Youngblood, leadenly emulous of the cartel enforcers that run him down. It is polite cinematography in the film that makes the raw and gritty tone expressive, easy for an audience to feel through infallible eyes in the treacherous world of Baja. Yet whenever the techno medicated of Las Vegas-a-la-Baja action and irritating moment got mere relief, one cannot say that even one) textural grounds was cleared during this work. Even if we concede creation of events prone to predictability, the on-screen fray, and tension build very well, for it keeps Crossing Point apace as a hard-edged thriller with strong direction.

Verdict
Released in 2016, Crossing Point is a tense and fast thriller with decent performances and rough-and-tumble action that keeps its viewers enthralled. There are good elements of dropping the suspense, yet the same tropes of old have been visited by it and the development of characters in this film are shallow at best. That being said, with steep direction and crisp execution, the movie makes for an entertaining fare if one is into the action-thriller genre.
