Chicken Run 2 is an English 3D animated comedy film made in the United Kingdom. The film is about Rocky and Ginger. Their daughter gets abducted by someone. Sam Fell directed this movie. Steve Pegram and Leyla Hobart produced the film. The writers of the film are Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell. Karey Kirkpatrick, John O'Farrell, and Rachel Tunnard handed the screenplay. Plot

The plot of the story revolves around the chicken couple, Rocky and Ginger. Earlier, they were captured by Mr Tweedy. However, after escaping from Mr and Mrs Tweedy’s farm, Rocky and Ginger tries to find a safe place for them to start their new life. They welcome a new chick named Molly in their family. Soon Molly grew into an eleven years old who Ginger and Rocky tried to protect from the outside world. One day Molly gets away from mainland where she meets a teenager chicken named Frizzle. Both to them gets kidnapped. A truck full of chickens took them to Fun-Land Farms. Ginger and Rocky starts finding Molly. Being taken inside, Molly saw that all the chicken has wore an electronic collar belt. By wearing that all the chickens turns into idiotic freaks by losing control on themselves. They made Frizzle wear the collar. However, Molly escaped. Ginger finds Molly. She told her that Dr. Fry is working under Mrs. Tweedy. She is behind this mastermind. Mrs. Tweedy orderd Dr. Fry to start the production of chicken nuggets. But he is stopped by Ginger, Molly and Rocky. The chicken trio won the fight, and freed all the remaining chickens. Chickens returns to their homes.

Star performance

Since, Chicken Run 2 is an animated film, the movie doesn’t have actual actors. However, actors have voiced over the characters. The main character of the movie is Molly. Molly is the daughter of Ginger and Rocky. Bella Ramsey plays the voice of Molly. Bella has done and fantastic work. All the emotions were perfectly depicted. Other important characters are Ginger and Rocky themselves. Thandiwe Newton plays the voice of Ginger who is Rocky’s Wife. Zachary Levi is the voice of Rocky, a former circus rooster. Both of them have delivered impressive performances.

Other supporting actors like Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, David Bradley, Jane Horrocks, Romesh Ranganathan, Daniel Mays, Josie Sedgwick-Davies, Peter Serafinowicz, Nick Mohammed and Miranda Richardson have also delivered fantastic performance. They highlighted the main characters of the film.

Analysis

Chicken Run 2 is an excellent film. The animations of the movie are incredible. They made it more intense. However, the movie’s producers claim it to be a comedic movie but throughout the movie, there are less scenes of comedy. The movie is kind of intense and overwhelming. There are scenes where the animation and the script don’t match. The cast did great work but they could have done better. The movie’s script seems to be fun, but it looked as forcefully added scenes are there. The genre of the film is comedy and drama. Not only the script, but the script’s execution is good. However, the storyline is simple to visualize as it has few twists and turns. The chemistry between the main characters and supporting characters is palpable.

The pace of the film is also terrible. The scenes are rushed to other scenes, which makes them dull. The animations are good. Also, the musical part of the movie is impressive. They are enjoyable. The voice over from Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, David Bradley, Jane Horrocks, Romesh Ranganathan, Daniel Mays, Josie Sedgwick-Davies, Peter Serafinowicz, Nick Mohammed and Miranda Richardson were amazingly well.

Despite all the shortcomings of the film, it is a one-time watch for sure. It is not better than its first part but the movie is watchable. If you like comedy, then you should watch this. Adults and kids will love this movie.
