Plot

When Elliot discovers he has cancer, his carefree young life is turned upside down. As he finds himself amid turmoil and mishap, he soon finds comfort and happiness from the woman who sticks with him no matter the circumstances, Mia. She stood by his side when he was sick, but as soon as he recovered, their relationship started to fade away. This leads to the question of whether they will be together in the future.

Star Performance

The star Maika Monroe exhibits her empathy and feelings towards Elliot through her acting skills by going to radiation therapy with him and shaving Elliot’s head in anticipation of losing his hair. Elliot brilliantly acted as if he was ill. Other supporting actors performed well too.

Analysis

This movie shows how a man found comfort in a girl after discovering he had cancer which caused him to have a tumor in his pelvic bone (Ewing’s sarcoma). They both get into a relationship where the girlfriend is highly supportive when her boyfriend undergoes chemotherapy though there are some funny episodes too. This film relates to using modern dating apps like Tinder, not enough paying jobs, and roommates who spend their time idly and binge-watching documentaries. They struggle with hospital bills because they don’t have enough paying jobs. The girlfriend tries her best, but their relationship starts to worsen. Also, the supporting leads are not that much around. They should have been more involved.

The movie shows reality how some people live and sometimes struggle with financial problems for bills and how two people in love can help each other through difficult phases of life.
