SharmilaDharmarasa is a Television Executive having 20 years of experience in programming and production. She did Bachelor in Design and Communication from Loyola College, Chennai. She majors in Television Production and scriptwriting and minors in Photography, Graphic Design, and Visual Analysis Tools. She became an Assistant Commercial Director at Tele Cine Private Limited (1995-1996) in Colombo and a senior producer at Young Asia Television (1996-1999). She worked as a Supervising Producer at Star Vijay Television Private Limited (1995-2005) in Chennai, producing weekly non-fiction programs.

She has been working as a Head Programming of Derana TV (Sri Lanka's number one Channel) consists of reality shows, beauty pageants, talk shows and dramas, and film awards. Derana TV has conducted Derana Little Stars and the Derana City of Dance for seven years. She headed her first-ever series of live programming for general entertainment on South Indian Television.

She wrote and directed the mini-series "Podu" for Sri Lankan television with ten episodes which got a million views on YouTube, developed storylines for weekend shows, and introduced the Sri Lankan Beauty pageant in 2006. Produced the country's leading daily shows "Sidhu" and "DewaniInima" and was appointed the National Director of Miss Earth for Sri Lanka and headed the production continuously for four years. She directed 14-hour live coverage from Bodhgaya on Buddha's birth occasion.
