Thesara Jayawardane is a citizen of Sri Lanka and New Zealand.She is an actress and is a highly accomplished individual with an impressive educational background. She holds a Ph.D., M.Phil., and BSc(Eng.) from New Zealand, LLB(Hons) from London, MA from Kelaniya, and various other qualifications such as MCIM (UK), MSLIM (SL), AMA (USA), AMIE (SL), Dip.M (UK), Chartered Marketer (UK), Attorney-at-law(SL), Notary Public (SL), Commissioner for Oaths (SL), and company secretary (SL). Aside from being a renowned film and teledrama actress, she is also recognized as a singer, dancer, TV presenter, and author. She has contributed largely to the field of academia as a full-time Senior Lecturer at the University of Moratuwa and a visiting Lecturer at many renowned institutions including the University of Sri JayewardenepuraEdulink Campus, Imperial Institute of Higher Education, Saegis Campus , Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CASL), and CFPS Law School. In 2012, she received the World Prize for her outstanding academic achievements in marketing. This esteemed award was presented to her for her exceptional performance at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) in the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. Her talent extends beyond the realm of acting.

She has been noticed for her roles in various television serials and has received accolades such as the OCIC / SIGNIS Tele Award for Best Actress in 2008. She has also been awarded at the State National Tele Drama Awards (Rajya Sammana Ulela) her excellent work in the role of Fathima in East is Calling in the category - Best Supporting Actress Award. She is married to Jeeth Sumedha Samarasekara, and their wedding ceremony was held at Eagles Lake Side Banquet & Conventional Hall in Attidiya, Ratmalana.
