Shalani Tharaka is a well-known Sri Lankan Television Actress, Model, Dancer, and Lyricist. She got the fame by winning the beauty pageant Sirasa Kumariya in 2007. She was born in Balangoda, Sri Lanka on 15 November 1990. Her father is Susantha Wijayabandara, and her mother is Suraji Fernando. She did her primary education at St. Agnes Convent. Later, she moved to her mother’s hometown and completed her further education at Newstead Girls College and studied western and Kandyan dance styles.

Shalani started acting in the television serial Poojasanaya, directed by Sherly P. Delankawala. Later, she did many television serials such as Isuru Bawana Story soon >> Read More... , Hansi, Giridevi, Api Api Wage (I & II), Ganga Addara Story soon >> Read More... , and Sanda Sanda Wage. Apart from teledrama, she has also done TV commercials for Hero Honda, Raino, and Janet. She was also featured in music videos like Oya Dese by Prinyan, Mata Oya by Dn S, and Wasthuwe by Shafee ft. Delon.

In 2012, she began her career in cinema with the debut movie of Sanjaya Leelaratne’s Selvam. She also played the lead role in the horror movie Spandana. She contested in the TV reality show Sirasa Dancing Stars Season II and Hero Super Dancer. In 2020, she was awarded both Best Teledrama Actress and Most Popular Teledrama Actress Award at the 16th Raigam Tele’es ceremony. She also appeared in the Raffealla Fernando Celebrity Calendar along with many other Sri Lankan celebrities, which is one of the highest civilian honors awarded to an individual.
