Ubaida Ansari was a Pakistani actress born in 1944 in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her studies at the University of Karachi. In 1960. She started working in Radio Pakistan in Lahore. She impressed everyone with her high-pitched voice. She is popular for her work in the dramas, Zeenat, Khala Kulsoom Ka Kumba, and Tum Hi To Ho. She was also seen in Saagar Ka Ansoo, Stolen, and Mera Muqaddam Tum Lado Gay. In 1998 she performed in the film Jinnah. She was seen in the longest-running TV series ‘Yeh Zindagi Hai’ and ‘Yeh Zindagi Hai Season 2’ as Kulsoom. Later, she played in the serials Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah, Zard Mausam, and "Rehaai." Ubaida died on 21 March 2014 in Karachi due to some age-related health issues.

Minal Khan is a Pakistani actress born on 20 November 1998. She debuted as a child artist in 2011 from Kaash Main Teri Beti Na Hoti. She has a twin sister, Aimal Khan. She went to Ideal Federal Secondary school in Karachi. In 2013 she appeared in a social drama Mann Ke Moti. In 2014, after appearing in Mere Meherbaan in a supporting role, she gained recognition. Maria Wasti, born on 14th August 1971, is a Pakistani Television & Film actress and host. Pakistan’s first private (non-government owned) channel launched in the 1990s, Network Television Marketing, featured contents that grasped attention and interests of the younger generation of the society, and hence, fascinated Maria to become an actress. Maria has done over 50 serials and a huge number of assorted plays. She started her career with the play ‘Sarah Aur Ammara’ for which she was approached by Bakhtiar Ahmed, the programme manager PTV Lahore Centre.

It is quite remarkable to notice that many of the actresses in the sub-continent today, whether from India or Pakistan, come from quite contrary backgrounds, most of them having either qualified for professional courses, or even having started a career in the very same field. How far this helps in their subsequent acting careers is yet to be assessed, but it can be safely presumed that it must be adding a few notches to their maturity levels, and this must be directly or indirectly showing in their acting.

Though not that young, one such name from Pakistan that immediately comes to mind is that of Samina Peerzada, who instead of pursuing a career in commerce, in which she had graduated, chose to opt for an acting career, and besides making a name for herself in several notable Pakistani dramas, went to become a producer and director too, having got married to fellow entertainment world personality, Usmaan Peerzada.

While technically her acting career started in 1980 with a child role in a British production “The Blood of Hussein”, her regular acting stint commenced, as it normally does in Pakistan, through her roles in Television dramas, 3 years later. This allowed her to gain name and fame as an accomplished actress. She liked this genre and was also liked by her fans in TV dramas, with over 40 appearances against her name, spanning across 31 years and all major TV channels. Her most notable dramas were “Ishq ke Inteha”;  “Meri Zaat” and “Zindagi Gulzaar Hai”.

Her appearances in mainstream films as well as the lighter genre of TV serials has not been as voluminous as that in TV dramas, exposing perhaps her liking for the medium of drama. Rather, she was keener to try out her hand in film direction, starting off with “Intehaan” in 1999, on a theme dealing with the controversial social issue of marital rape. Even in Pakistan’s conservative environment, the film was critically acclaimed. However, after 4 films in some of which she acted also, she settled back to her favorite genre of TV dramas, where she is making her presence even now.

Born on 9th August 1955 in Lahore, Pakistan, Samina Butt is a Pakistani actress who has worked in many dramas, films, and telefilms. She has also shown a keen knack for direction in the past years. She graduated from the Karachi Government College of Commerce and Economics. She is married to Usman Peerzada, a well-known actor in the industry, and has two daughters, Anum and Amal Peerzada. She changed her name from Samina Butt to Samina Peerzada after marrying the actor. Samina made her film debut in 1980, playing Lisa in the film The Blood of Hussain. She has worked in many films over the years like Shaadi Mere Shohar ki ( 1986), Mukhra (1988), Bazar-e-Husn (1988), Bulandi (1990), Nazdeekiyan (1991), Pabandi (1992), Khwahish (1993), Zar Gul (1997), and The Valley (2017). She has also performed in theatrical productions, most notable of which are Raaz-o-Niaz and A Doll House.

Danish Taimoor is a Pakistani model and TV actor. He was born in Karachi on February 16, 1983 and started acting at a quite young age as an amateur artist. After completing his education he took up the profession of modeling before entering into the world of TV. His television career started with a small role in Dil, Diya, Dehleez in 2009. His performance was highly lauded and many offers started coming his way. His some of the most famous series were Haseena Moin's Meri Behen Maya and Mehreen Jabbar's Rehai which brought him much fame and name. Rashid Farooqui is a very talented actor hailing from Karachi, Pakistan. He was born on 5th May 1975. Rashid did his schooling from Government High School, Karachi. He had a keen interest in theater drama right from his childhood days. Therefore, he joined the National Academy of Performing Arts to pursue a career and to choose what he loves to do. He then started his occupation as an actor for theater dramas and television series. He officially kicked off with a short drama and tragedy film called “Shahrukh Khan Ki Maut”. He was Ustad Manzoor in the film. In a short span of time, the short film was a super hit. He then appeared in “Too Late the Reformer.” He went on to do various television shows like ‘Moorat’, ‘Manzil’, ‘Man-o-Salwa’ and ‘Makan’. Many of them enjoyed to watch him on screen in most of his character roles.

Noman Ijaz is a Pakistani actor, who was born on 14th February 1965 in Lahore, Pakistan. His father was a manager at one movie theatre in Lahore and his father’s job influenced him a lot in getting into the acting career. His family led a simple and humble life and his father wanted to make sure that all of his three children received good education and they were sent to the best Christian Management schools in Lahore. Noman has two brothers and he is now married to Rabia and they have three children.

He began his acting career through PTV and he acted mainly in dramas. He was famous for his negative roles in the dramas and is considered as one of the most respected senior artists in the Pakistan industry. Noman struggled a lot to find his place in the industry initially and he was widely respected for his hard work and humble behaviour. He started his career with a negative role in the drama ‘Rihaee’ which made him famous both among the audience and the industry folks.

He has an Urdu movie ‘Ramchand Pakistani’ to his credit which was released in 2008. He portrayed a Pakistani Hindu, who crossed the border towards India accidently and his wife’s role was played by Nandita Das in the movie. He was honoured by Pakistan president with the ‘Pride of performance award’ in 2011. He currently hosts a TV show on PTV.
