Edadugulu is a Telugu language TV serial that aired on the channel Zee Telugu. The main characters of the serial, Shyam and Sri Vani, are played by Ravi Kiran and Sujitha, respectively. Edadugulu is the story of Sujitha, a woman who has lost her mother too young, and Ravi Kiran, a rich man who lives among gold diggers. Sujitha has one elder brother and two younger sisters. Her brother is married to a kind woman who gives up the chance of being a mother so that the rest of the family doesn’t have to struggle with the lack of money. Shyam is the successor of Rathnakar, his grandfather. After losing his father, Shyam grew up in his grandfather’s footsteps. He has two aunts, who, along with their families, live with Shyam, his mother, and his grandfather.

Since their childhood, Shyam and his aunt, Sujatha’s daughter, Keerthana, were thought to be made for each other. Their wedding date has been set after growing up. Shyam’s other aunt, Radha, doesn’t like this wedding as she wanted her daughter to be the one getting married to Shyam for the money. A day before their grand wedding, Shyam married Sujitha in a temple among her family. When Shyam and Sujitha show up at his house in their wedding attire, everyone expresses their disappointment. Everyone except Rathnakar and Radha refuses to accept Vani as a member of their family.

A few days after the wedding, Vani finds out that Shyam married her on a contract that states that she needs to stay married to him for a year for 60 lakh rupees. Vani’s brother and father knew about this but didn’t tell her. When she confronts them, they tell her that they did it for the betterment of their family. Her father justifies his actions by saying that he hoped Shyam might have a change of heart, and the marriage will last. The rest of the serial focuses on how Shyam and Vani find their ways to each other’s hearts.
