The song praises the Lord and is to seek his blessings. The story behind the show is that, on Sashti, the day in the Hindu calendar when Lord Muruga killed the demon Soorapadman. When the universe could not tolerate his evils, the devas approached Lord Muruga with the request to help them. Lord Muruga defeated the demon in six days. He threw his weapon on the demon, splitting his body into two halves. Everyone rejoiced and praised the Lord for his bravery.
