Welcome to Surrey is a comedy web-series on Netflix. It focuses on a young woman named Suneet and how she rebuilds her relationships with her family. Suneet is portrayed as a young, ambitious, beautiful, and strong woman who is a medical school graduate in Toronto. She has spent most of her life in Toronto, kind of forgetting her ties with her Indo-Canadian family back in Surrey, British Columbia, where she grew up.
When she finds herself appointed to a residency back in Surrey, she has to start rebuilding both her career and her relationship with her fellow Indo-Canadian community and family. This series also focuses on the concept of having one culture as one’s background but being raised up in a different one.
