Eho Hamara Jeevna, based on the Dalip Kaur Tiwana book, aired on DD Punjabi. It highlights the challenges women face in Punjab's rural communities. The series revolves around Bhano, the main female character. The woman comes from a low-income farming family and lives in a culture where women are treated as commodities. Bhano's community is characterized by patriarchy and gender inequality. As a result of her family's poverty and social standards, she is viewed as a commodity to be bought, sold, and married off for financial gain. She is being denied her dreams and wishes despite her best efforts. Bhano's father best illustrates how women are treated in the neighborhood. She was eager to be sold for marriage to Sarban, a Moranwalli guy. Bhano's life after marriage takes a scary turn after her husband and his siblings harass and mistreat her.
Sarban's unmarried brothers and his friends continue threatening her with sexual assault, compounding her discontent. After Sarban dies, her father tries to sell her again to her late husband's brothers, which makes her feel unsatisfied. The patriarchy and societal norms limit Bhano's existence. To break the never-ending cycle of sorrow, she considers committing suicide due to the circumstances she finds herself in. However, destiny intervenes when a guy named Narain saves her. By marrying her without seeking social approval, he prevents her from committing suicide and provides her with support and safety.
