The show begins before the tourist arrives from all over the world and the preparations have just started. The show takes you through the transformation of Nagaland for the festival. The shows captures the sweat and determination emotions that the participants go through to rejoice put this 7-day celebration. The show records the festival which is named after a large colourful forest bird named Hornbill. This being the only festival where all 16 tribes come together and showcase their individual costumes, colours, acrobatics and cultures with each other.
The main aim of organising this festival is to enhance inter-tribal interaction and also to showcase the culture of Nagaland. The festival is created by the State Tourism and Art and Cultural Department of Nagaland. This week long festival is filled with performances, food fairs, art and craft. Modern Naga artists display their painting and sculptures. The Naga troupes perform on folk dances especially put together for this festival. The main highlight of the Hornbill Festival is the Hornbill International Rock Festival where local and international rock bands perform.
More than all this, The Hornbill Festival is a celebrate of pride, courage and unity among the tribes of Nagaland.
